Y5 Science: Sorting Branch Diagrams

22nd Feb 2020

In Year 5 we have been using scientific methods for comparing and sorting. We have used sorting branch diagrams to compare and contrast the different properties and characteristics of various subject matter. We began by comparing animals and placing them within a diagram, paying attention to natural characteristics associated with habitat, diet and appearance. We then created a split branch diagram using various biscuits. We paid attention to the properties and appearance of each biscuit and thought of scientific questions which would help us to sort them into different categories. We will now use the scientific methods we have practiced, including the sorting branch diagram, and apply them to our investigations into different materials and their properties.
