Y1 Science: Investigating Materials

Today the children have been naming objects and identifying the materials they are made from.

They spotted:

glass
fabric
metal
wood
plastic

They hunted all around the Y1 classroom, in pairs, for objects made from different materials.

At home can you challenge your child to name different materials they are made from?

After the holidays we will be trying to use lots of rich vocabulary as we talk about their properties such as: hard, soft, rough, smooth, rigid, flexible, transparent, opaque , shiny and dull.
