School Closure - 10-03-23

9th Mar 2023

Dear Parents and Carers,

I have taken the decision to close school tomorrow (10-03-23).

I have made the decision based on the information available to me that relates to:

  • the weather forecast;
  • public transport issues; and
  • road safety concerns (including warnings to drive only if necessary)

and I am telling you now because I promised that I would try to give you as much notice as possible, so that you are able to make alternative arrangements if you need to.

I want to reassure you that decisions like these are never made easily, and I have been in discussions with colleague headteachers for much of the evening. In making this decision I have to think about so many things, including the safety of families and staff travelling to and from school as well as the likelihood that weather conditions will improve sufficiently - or get worse.

I am acutely aware that this decision may cause problems for some of you, and I am very sorry if this is the case.

We will continue to monitor the weather over the weekend, and hope that it will improve sufficiently for school to open as usual on Monday.

Kind regards,

F Barratt - Headteacher
