Y1 Mathematics: Fun with Fractions - Finding Half

23rd Apr 2022

We have been exploring how to find half of lots of different shapes.

We remembered that the key point is to make sure that two halves must be equal.

The children used slices of bread as a fun way to investigate different ways to find half of a square.

Tomorrow we will be finding half of an actual amount, so, I have 12 sweets and you and I should each have half. How many will I get?

At home, please encourage your child to find half of different amounts, for example, half of the chips on their dinnerplate.
